Announcements represent information broadcast to anyone with interest;
they are not directed to any one person.
Announcements are a one-way transfer, there is no feedback.
Announcements may include scripted messages,
extemporaneous messages,
or a database listing details about events.
Scripted Messages
Pre-recorded (scripted) messages may include instructions, security awareness, commercials, and hospitality. These messages may repeat periodically to emphasize their points. Scripted messages are the simplest to distribute to WAI as a text-equivalent message can easily accompany any pre-recorded message.
Extemperaneous Messages
Responsible persons may convey messages to the public using a public address system broadcasting aural information. These messages may not follow a script and may include colorful commentary unique to the person speaking. A means to convert the spoken words into readable text in near-real time is a fundamental feature of WAI.
Database
A typical database of events would include arrivals and departures, showtimes, open/close times, current transit times, etc...
Each facility database provides ready access to information with the ability to customize the presentation based on the user location and the user destination (if known.)
